From July 1 to 9, the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) and Leeds Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, organized the Summer International Exchange Program 2013 in Yorkshire, U.K. This year’s theme was “Developing Cultural Tourism”, and the initiative attracted 25 students from China (including Macau and Hong Kong), Japan and the U.K. Participants in the nine-day program explored this theme by interacting and exchanging ideas with experts, industry professionals and officials, as well as conducting seminars, field trips and presentations. According to a press release, IFT has organized a uniquely themed Summer program every year since 1998, and has brought students from all over the world to Macau and IFT for cultural exchange. Since 2009, IFT has collaborated with an overseas partner, Asia-Pacific Education and Training Institutes in Tourism (APETIT), to widen local students’ horizons by conducting the program outside Macau. This is the fifth year that IFT organized the program in collaboration with overseas institutions. copyright@MACAU DAILY TIMES
